Sam

Tears streamed down her faces as she rocked back and forth. She muttered under her breath. Few of which were actual words. The dirty matted hair stuck to the side of her face. Her ripped and dirty close smiled of filth of years living on the street.

"Why!" her scream filled the alley behind the a banned theater. She like many other street people found their way to the theater. It wasn’t just a place to get out of the rain but a space of a time long past. It was built in the late 30s when motion pictures started to take off. The classes all had placed here. Gone With The Wind, The African Queen, The Most Danger Game, Casablanca and So many more right up to late 60s. The owner then a Mr. Stone had gone home that night and passed away in his sleep.

Mr.Stone had one son who had been drafted to fight in the Vietnam war. The lawyers overseeing the estate told all the employees that they had been fired till the son contacted. Weeks turned in to months and months turned in too years before a latter came in the mail. It was lost in the paper work on the desk. Where it sat till it burned up in a fire in the 70s. It wouldn't have matted though for the old long a banned theater. It was a short and simple letter from the pentagon. It simple stated that Robert Joseph Stone had been killed in action in 1963.

The ones great theater now stud alone in the far end of the city. Lone forgot; till the homeless found it and started to make it home.

"Why!" she screamed again. This time someone replied back.

"Why what." A sweet soft male voice asked. She looked around quickly trying to find the owner of the voice. When her eye caught sight of him. he was standing in the back door of the theater.

"Who you are?" she asked not taking her eyes off him.

" Joseph." He said with a smile. She looked at him suspicious. His cloth old and warn didn’t look dirty in the less bit.

"I no seen you."

"I haven't been here in a long time." he said looking at the building. "Would you like to take a walk with me around the theater?" he asked putting out a hand. She found herself not shying away like she normally would; instead wanting to take this walk with him. She stud up, whipping away the tears from her eyes. His hand was soft and warm in her weather beaten street harden hand. He leader her in to the side passage next to the single screen.

"This is where they played some of the great classic." He said with a smile. "as well as some of the worst movies ever made." He chuckled at that and walked along with her up the aisle. The stepped in to the lobby only light up by the evening sun. Concession's standing dirtied and mashed. The list of prices for popcorn and a pop faded away. The wonderful panties of Hollywood back lots and movie premieres along covered up by teens and their graffiti.

"I use to come where every Saturday night with my father. It was a wonderful place." He said stepping in the center of the lobby. Sam listen the best she could. Her mind not really her own. Jumped about; lacking on to some words and skipping over others. she tried her best to listen to him. His voice was so comforting. But she couldn’t.

They walked up a staircases to the project room. He stopped just outside of it. Turning he smiled at her. His eyes shined.

"I can't go on with you. But I want you to go in."

"Why what?" she asked not scared but confused.

"Someone is waiting for you Sam." He replied. "please trust me." He turned and pushed open the door. A soft white light filled the small hall. It wasn’t blinding but Sam could not make out anything on the other side.

"ok." She replied not looking away from the light. She as she stepped in to the room the door swung close behind her. Leaving the hallway empty and dark.
