The waves crashed along the shore. the two walked along in silence for awhile. The moon slowly rising above them. the sky was clear tonight. Each star sparking like a diamonds.
"It's be a long time." An old woman said stopping to face the sea. "a real long time."
"I know. I'm sorry."
"You don't look a day older then when you left." She reached an wrinkled old hand. She crested his face. "Its truly amazing." He didn’t reply to her. Just smiled warmly at her.
"Do you remember that time in 1943. I was just a young girl then. You looked wonderful in your uniform. So handsome, so young. I guess you do still look young. Your just not in the uniform anymore."
"Would you like me to be?" he asked looking down in to her crystal blue eyes. still filled with so much life but just as much pain.
"Oh it would be so wonderful to see you wearing it again."
"Closer your eyes." he said softly. She closed them. a large smile across her face. She felt as if she was a young girl again. "ok open them." There he stud in his green uniform from the great war.
"Oh you still do look so handsome." She started to save but was interrupted by a heavy fit of coughing.
"Please sit down. Drink some water." She turned to see a set of chars and a small table with a glass of water on it. he slowly helped her sit down. Then toke the set across from her.
"I know why you are here." She said finally. Her toes being splashed upon by the warm waters of the gulf.
"I was hoping to let you enjoy yourself for a bit longer." He said squeezing her hand.
"Oh I knew this day would come." She took a small sip of water. "I just hoped it would be you."
"I know I made sure I could be here." He said looking over at her. "why don't we just enjoy the time we have for a bit longer. There is no rush." He didn’t reply back to him but smiled. She rested her head on his shoulders as they watched the night sky. they watched as a shooting star. Streaked across the heavens. Soon followed by another one, then another. The sky was abuzz with them. she smiled, tears coming to her eyes.
"it's like the first night we mat."
"I know. I wanted it to be perfect." He said wiping away a tear.
"I'm ready when every you are." She said softly. He said nothing but smiled at her.
The flat sound of the heart monitor filled the small hospital room. the two standing close to the bed held each other. The women weeping softly. The Nurse turned off the machine. Putting the small room in to silence.
